Medium Pressure. Individual Skill.

I. Dribbling
-Review dribbling with all parts of both feet
-Emphasize evasion through changes in speed and direction
-Fakes: "Scissors," "Step-overs", body fakes (Coerver skills page)
-Skill Moves: "Pull backs," cuts with the inside/outside of the foot, "rolls" (all directions) with sole of foot, Cruyff (Coerver, 1,000 touches)

II. Passing
-Highly technical, focusing on accuracy with both feet (within 5 to 10 yds)

III. Receiving
-Receiving with the inside of both feet, emphasis on "readiness" -Receiving on the move and taking a first touch that will set up the second touch

IV. Shooting/Striking
-Highly technical, focusing on accuracy with laces, (within short ranges) -Intro to flighted ball

V. Juggling
-Stress beating their own best number of juggles
-Stress use of left and right feet

VI. Intro Tactical
-Intro 2v1 passing (Beating the defender by using second attacker in supporting role both in front of and behind the ball
-Intro communication


Week ONE

Footwork
Warm-up
 * 1000 touches
 * Attacking Moves – Scissor, Step-over, Hamm, Side-step
 * Space Moves – Stop - hop and go, 2 pullbacks, inside and outside cuts, Zico, Cruyff

Knock-Out
 * 20 yd x 20 yd grid (increase grid size if necessary)
 * 1 ball per player
 * Attempt to protect your ball while kicking other player's balls out of grid
 * Close control and vision
 * Change direction
 * Use body to protect ball (shielding)

1 versus 1– Own Goal
 * Coach plays ball into middle
 * One x and One o enter the field – attempting to win the ball and score on their own goal
 * Quick to the ball
 * Cut or Pull ball away from opponent
 * Body Position – Body protects ball while dribbling

Week TWO

Changing Direction

Warm-up
 * change direction using: bottom of the foot, inside and outside of the foot

Red light, Green light
 * Use bottom of the foot, near the toes
 * Don't stand on the ball (balance on non-ball foot)
 * 30 x 30 yd grid
 * Start Dribbling on "green light" / Stop Dribbling on "red light" 
 * If player doesn't stop on red light, they must go back to the beginning

Overlap Dribble Game
 * Change Direction
 * Change Speed
 * Use Skill

 * o passes to x and overlaps to get goals side and defend
 * o can score on either goal
 * x can steal and go to either goal
 * Variation – dribble or pass through goal

Week THREE

Dribble 1 versus 1

Warm-up
 * Freeze Tag – Tagger has bib and no ball I Other players try to avoid being frozen
 * Vision by looking up and around
 * Avoid tagger by changing speed and direction with the ball
 * 20 yd x 20 yd grid
 * Players w/ ball can "un-freeze" players by tagging them

1 versus 1– Stepover Game
 * 2-3 foot goals
 * 34 yds in width
 * Defender can't move until attacking player touches ball
 * Attacker can score by dribbling through either goal
 * Go fast!
 * Change directions with fakes and feints (scissors, step-avers, side-step)

1 versus 1– 2 goals
 * Change Speed and Direction
 * 15 yds long x 10 yds wide
 * x passes to o and then defends
 * begin w/ 2 new players after goal is scored or ball goes out of bounds
 * Alternate service side

Week FOUR

Passing

Warm-up
 * change direction using: bottom of the foot, inside and outside of the foot

Target Goals
 * Ankle locked to the side
 * Use inside of foot
 * Follow through towards target
 * Plant foot aiming to target
 * Players 5-8 yds apart
 * Target Player has legs open to create goal
 * Partner tries to pass ball through the legs

2 versus 1 to small goals
 * start by dribbling
 * pass to partner when defender comes
 * pass into goals
 * 15 yds x 15 yds
 * 2 goals for attackers to score on

Week FIVE

Speed Dribble

Warm-up
* use laces in unrestricted space

Relays
 * Use laces to start
 * Big touch to start
 * Small touches w/inside of foot around cones
 * #1 Dribble around cone and back
 * #2 Dribble around cone and pass to next player

Sharks and Minnows
 * Small touches w. shark in front
 * Big touches in space behind
 * Vision and close control
 * Change speed
 * Must dribble from one side to the other
 * Shark knocks minnows ball out of play and that player becomes a shark.
