No soccer game sanctioned
by California Youth Soccer League can be played without a referee licensed
by the United States Soccer Federation. This means no TPSC game can take
place without a qualified referee. TPSC trains and helps anyone interested
to become a licensed referee. Also we need qualified referees to
insure player safety and to promote play in accordance with the Laws of the
Game.
All TPSC competitive
teams (Class I and Class III) are required to have at least two licensed referees.
Each team is responsible for covering 12 referee spots for the club during the season (Fall Kickoff referee spots do count toward this requirement), which can be divided between their licensed referees.
Referees filling these spots are paid as per the schedule below. Teams that do not provide these referees will pay a substantial additional
registration fee.

Referee Courses
For adults, refereeing
provides an opportunity to:

competitive (and often emotional) environment in which games are played.

For younger people
(under 18), refereeing provides an opportunity to:

depending on age group and classification of game).

Game.

An opportunity for
Community Service.
The TPSC will pay for the
registration fee of $35.00 for the basic license, and will also reimburse
new youth referees ages 16 and under up to $45 for the cost of their referee
uniforms with the only
requirement that the referee officiate at least 5 years.
