All
players
except those on competitive teams must
register on May 21st or May 29th in order to be
assured of a place on a team.
(See special notes below regarding Interleague availability.)
Late
registrants are not guaranteed a team placement and will be
charged a
$75 late fee.
All
players will be assigned to divisions according to the listed
age brackets unless a player requests to play up in an older age
group. Players may play in an older age group with TPSC board
approval, but they may not play in a younger group.
Anyone requesting to play up must make this known on the
registration form and verbally make it known when registering.
Most
kids want to play with others in their grade level, but because
of their birthdate they could be placed with a younger grade
level.
All players must be in first grade or older to play.
Carefully review the age brackets before registering.
Also if
your child cannot practice on certain days (ie, religious
school, music lessons, etc.) it must be stated on your
registration form as once teams are formed, we cannot make
changes.
Late
registrants will be placed on teams as team size and the number
of coaches permit.
Late registered players who have just moved to the area will be
placed on teams first.
Other players will be placed according to team needs and the
discretion of the club.
Rec League Divisions
At
all age levels, TPSC offers co-ed and girls teams. The U-8
division plays micro-soccer consisting of small sided games with
no goalie. The U-10 division plays 8 a-side games. The U-12 division will play either 9 or 11 a-side games. The U-14
division and older play 11 a-side games.
Interleague
The
U-14 and U-16 divisions play other clubs in Marin. In order to
improve the level of competition, TPSC will provide professional
coaches. To cover these expenses the registration fee will be
$350. We still need parents to volunteer as managers for the
teams.
Interleague teams will be filled on a first come basis.
When
Interleague players register they will be assigned a placement
number. The first sixteen players registered will be placed on a
team.
A
second team will be formed if another sixteen players sign up,
if not, the remaining players will be put on a waiting list.
Interleague:
Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate or
passport (no hospital, baptism or religious certificates),
and a 1¼ inch square color photo of your child to registration
night.
Scholarships
There will be a limited number of need based registration fee
scholarships available in 2008. Please email Alison von Lackum at tpslmail@tiburonsoccer.org; leave your name, address and request a scholarship
form and one will be mailed to you along with instructions.
Unpaid fees
Families with unpaid fee balances from prior years will not be able to register players in following years until all unpaid fee balances are paid in full. Note: Information regarding families with unpaid fees is shared with other Marin CYSA clubs.
Uniforms & Equipment For Rec and Interleague Players
Each
player will be given a TPSC jersey to use during the season. The
TPSC jerseys must be returned at the end of the season. Each
player must have black team shorts, black socks and shin guards
to be able to play. Each player needs his or her own ball for
practice. Ball size varies according to age division. TPSC sweatshirts and t-shirts may be available for purchase at registration. Player shorts and socks may be purchased at a club discount at one of the local soccer retail stores.
Competitive Teams
Competitive
teams consist of two divisions, Select and Upper House. They
play teams from several other communities, and participate in
tournaments in a season lasting from summer to November or March
depending on the age division. Players are chosen in tryouts in
the previous March and
April based on skill and determination. Much more information
can be found on our website, www.tiburonsoccer.org.
Parent
Support
The
TPSC can only be a success with parent involvement. We need parents who will volunteer to help with coaching, age group coordination, team parents, refereeing and other activities.
In the event of a shortage of coaches, priority for assignment
to teams will be given to players whose parents volunteer.
Please sign up at registration. Volunteer signup sheets will be
available at registration.
Coaching
Coaches are needed for all age groups.
We
urge you to sign up. Last season we had a good turnout of
mothers and fathers. At the younger age levels,
experience is not necessary and coaching provides a great
opportunity to learn soccer or to sharpen your own skills. All
coaches are required to obtain a level F license. CYSA licensed
professionals will hold one day clinics during the spring. Have
no fear; everyone passes!!
In
addition, the TPSC will provide coaches with professional
trainers who will work with the players at one or more practices
a week (frequency depends on age group).
We Need Your Help, Sign Up Now!
Referees
We
urgently need parents, other adults, and college and high school
students with some soccer experience to be referees. Middle
School students are welcomed to referee U-8 games. Referees are
paid for each game they work. New referees must complete a
clinic—there will be one in June. The TPSC will pay for
the certification. For information and details, call the hotline
or email our referee coordinator, John Gulick.
