Mountain Meadow Ranch Summer Camp has a long-standing reputation for providing one of the best overnight camping experiences in Northern California, and has been a second home to many Marin and San Francisco Bay Area campers for 55 years. We offer a traditional, overnight summer camp program for ages 7 to 16, uniquely located on a 900 acre ranch northwest of Lake Tahoe. Our staff to camper ratio is 1 to 5. Limited enrollment ensures a more personalized camping experience, allowing campers to receive greater one-on-one attention than other traditional summer camps.
Through the fun activities that we provide, campers are able to build self-confidence, self-esteem and sharpen character. Campers become more like family in an environment where valuable friendships are made and memories last a lifetime. Our location allows for outdoor adventures such as backpacking in the high Sierras, wakeboarding, tubing and other water sports at Lake Almanor, trips to Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park and Burney Falls, and so much more. Mountain Meadow is also a real ranch, with baby animals to care for, horses to wrangle in the morning, and cattle to tend to, all of which our campers can participate in. The extensive high ropes course offers up to 17 different elements, an 800 foot long zip line, a climbing wall 50 feet up in the trees, and a 50 foot climbing tower. Target sports such as archery and riflery are also offered daily, along with tennis, sailing and canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, photography, ceramics, fencing, Western horseback riding, and drama. Weekend events bring the entire camp family together, with Color Wars competitions that include swim meets, creative one-of-a-kind relay races, game shows, talent nights and smore-making championships. Campers stay in carpeted cabins with indoor bathrooms and hot showers, ensuring a comfortable stay for first-time sleepaway campers.
Getting to camp is half the adventure; we offer staff-escorted flights directly to and from Oakland Airport to Reno (a short 45 minute flight and a fun way to start a sleepaway camp adventure!); safety and security are our highest priority for our campers.
Mountain Meadow is accredited through the American Camp Association (ACA) and the Western Association of Independent Camps (WAIC). References are available upon request.
