We are Sharks! |
From Wikipedia: “Whether Lt. Juan Manuel de Ayala saw a number of sharks near where he anchored the
San Carlos in August 1775, off what is now Angel Island, or whether the tree covered Tiburon Peninsula
looked like a shark we may never know. In any case he named the land Punta del Tiburon, or Shark Point.”

Thank you for your great response to our 'name our club' email. We received many dozens of emails with thoughts and suggestions from our TPSC soccer community. Over 75% of those responding liked the name "Sharks." 15% liked the various individual team names that they had in the past. And 10% had other suggestions (including, evidently, a few English Premiership fans!).
Here is a sampling of the responses that we received for the Sharks:
I think it's the perfect name.
My first select team in Tiburon 30 years ago was called the Sharks, so there is certainly some history there. Go Sharks!
We love the name and think it very appropriate.
Sharks is great...symbolizes Tiburon, there is a lot of fun stuff you can do with logos and slogans, and it will put fear in our competitors to take on the SHARKS!
We would love TPSC Sharks, or Tiburon Football Club Sharks...all for it.
I think the Tiburon Sharks is a great name, which sounds fierce enough for the kids and also has great meaning for the town.
Sharks. great name. it's a natural.
We love it!
Love the name!
I love it!
My daughter will be thrilled!
Tiburon Sharks has my vote!
I love the idea of naming the club the Sharks. It is only logical.
“Sharks” is great.
Our family think the "Sharks" would be an excellent name.
Yes I would support a vote by the Board to rename the team the "Sharks". After all, "tiburon" means shark in Spanish. It seems to me that we have already been given the name...
